Toronto – Psychotherapy to help with depression, anxiety, stress, addictions and trauma using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness.
Experiencing feelings of anxiety or depression is not uncommon. About one in five adults has a mental health illness each year. Mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder are the third common reason for people ages 18 to 44 are hospitalized in the United States (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
Mental health issues such as anxiety and depression can interfere with all aspects of your life including work performance and parenting. If you are increasingly distracted at work, have sleep disturbances, starting to isolate yourself from others or are beating yourself up mentally with destructive feelings of irrational guilt and self-hate, it may be time to get some professional help.
We provide psychotherapy in a safe, neutral setting that enables clients to explore complex and often very painful or distressing issues in a contained, constructive manner. Many people seek help for depression, anxiety, symptoms of trauma, substance abuse and difficulty adjusting to life changes and stressors.
Our approaches includes a variety of therapy methods (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, client focused, narrative, hypnotherapy/relaxation, Motivational Interviewing for Addictions). After a comprehensive initial assessment, we will select the therapy method that is most helpful for the client depending upon the issues.
At Hicks Counselling Services we build on existing strengths, skills and resilience and provide the therapy tools and counselling resources needed to help clients move from feelings of helplessness to a sense of competency.
“Therapy is a necessary, at times profound, educational method that teaches us how to be more fully human and live an optimum life.” (Lynn Grodzki, Family Therapy Magazine, 2004)
